New year, new opportunities! This year I promise to try to post more often, preferably every day. Often it is when many things happen and we are very busy and it would be interesting for the readers, but then we don't have time to post! A little update: We had a fabulous trip to USA this fall. Pictures WILL follow! We really enjoyed visiting friends and family and the Curly Convention was perfect! Weather was fantastic (especially when thinking about that it ALL the time was raining and just above freezing point at home in Norway). My old horse trailer broke down, so I had to get a new (used) one in order to get all the horses home again. Which was good because this one is better and bigger So I got all the horses fetched except Fire and Kentucky which still are at Kristine's in Hemsedal. Our darling little cutie, Carolina Dream, is already spoken for by Christine in Sylling and will leave for her new home when she is weaned in the spring. Our other foals are growing and growing, I think the boys, Wisconsin and Washington, will be a pony size larger than I thought, becoming cat. II ponies (max 140 cm / 13.3 hh). Both are super friendly and super curly. We still have our 1,5 year old fillies Florida and Penny for sale, although a lady in Germany is very interested. Both have a gorgeous winter coat, will try to get pictures. During the Christmas holiday we did some trail riding. One day the kids we have visiting wanting to ride and I put them up on my three seasoned mares, bareback, while I rode Misty myself. The kids are from 8 years old and novice riders. We let the rest of the herd consisting of six ponies/yearlings/foals follow loose. We had a great ride in fantastic winter weather with the sun shining at the snow drenched trees. Our horses are so gentle and as long they keep their spot in the string, there are no problems with beginner riders. The winter came with snow and cold before Christmas and recently we have been down to minus 25C (minus 13F). I have ordered an insulated heated water tank for the horses, it takes 250 liters (66 gallons) so one filling should be good for two-three days. No more hauling out hot water three times a day to keep the horses' water ice free! It is called Thermobar and can be ordered from www.hestefokus.com Posted via web from curlyhorse's posterous |
